history when, in 2005’s Round 10, Scott Snedecor won the world title by a margin of $1.67 over Allen. Throckmorton remembers, “You could hear a pin drop in that 10th round, and everyone was standing.” Throckmorton has worked the NFSR in Guthrie, Okla.; Amarillo, Texas; Hobbs, N.M.; and now Mulvane, Kan., as well as announcing the largest regular-season, PRCA-sanctioned steer roping, in San Antonio,Texas. “There is not much I haven’t seen in steer roping throughout the last 31-plus years,” says Throckmorton, who considers single-steer roping the original event of rodeo. “It’s an event where you can’t rush things; you have to let things happen. It takes a lot of talent, precision, a great horse, perseverance, and the will to win. I feel fortunate to have witnessed somany exciting runs and title races among the very best cowboys. ” Scott Grover For as long as rodeo voice Scott Grover can remember, he’s wanted to be an announcer at the ClemMcSpadden National Finals Steer Roping. And in 2017, he was presented that opportunity. Grover, 40, made his NFSR debut, taking themic next to fellowannouncer Charlie Throckmorton, who has announced at the NFSR 18 times.

“For me, that event was a dream come true and one of the first goals when I got my (PRCA) card,”Grover said.“The first ProRodeo I workedwaswithClem(McSpadden) in Claremore, Okla., and he taught me a lot about that event – so to get to do it was a huge accomplishment for me. Since Clem is gone, Charlie is the historian of steer roping. To be able to lean on him for my first trip there was just great.” Reflecting on working at the NFSR Nov. 10-11 in Mulvane, Kan., Grover said there isn’t a better place to witness steer roping than in that setting, with the best 15 steer ropers in the country.

“It was two days of watching the absolute best roping in the world,”he said.“It was great to be there.” In 2014, Grover announced at the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo and has been recognized six times as announcer for the Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo (2007-11 and in 2013).
