2018 PRCA Media Guide - PRCA Awards

Justin Boots, in recognizing the hundreds of thousands of hours of work that rodeo committee members around the country donate to putting on their local rodeos, has long made a practice of honoring 125 outstanding volunteers around the country through its John Justin Standard of the West program. PRCA rodeos vote on the recipient of Justin’s national award for a committeeperson whose dedication represents the deeds of those thousands of volunteers. In 2017, that award went rodeo director Steven Money of the Spanish Fork (Utah) Fiesta Days Rodeo. After serving as rodeo director of the Spanish Fork (Utah) Fiesta Days Rodeo for 34 years, Steven Money retired in 2017, grateful for the opportunity and hardworking volunteers on the committee. “I am so thankful for the committee that we’ve had,” Money said. “We’ve just had excellent people on our committee who help make it so great. It’s something that I truly loved. It’s going to be very hard to be away from it, but I’m still going to be in contact with people in the rodeo business and help rodeo committees out.” With Money’s leadership, the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Rodeo, in 2016, became the 24th rodeo to be inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame since the inaugural class in 1979. It also was the first Utah rodeo to be inducted. “With my career coming to an end, I’m just so grateful to receive this award and get recognized for all the hours you put into it,”he said. Money, a Spanish Fork native, has been involved with the Western lifestyle his entire life. “I rodeoed when I was younger, and I just love that passion to compete and (being a rodeo director) was a way to be associated with it,”he said.
