2020 Media Guide - INTRO

Jr. Rodeo The PRCA continues to support and reach out to the younger generation who are interested in participating in professional rodeo, whether as contestants, bullfighters or contract acts. Those outreach efforts take several forms: JR. RODEO MEMBERSHIP The new program, launched in 2020, offers four levels of membership to contestants between the ages of 8-19. Memberships include a membership card, entry to Jr. Rodeo camps, sponsor promotions, a Jr. Rodeo school discount, a ProRodeo Hall of Fame student membership and Jr. Rodeo swag. Prices range from $50-300; contact Ellen Cart at jrrodeo@prorodeo.com or call 719.528.4723 for more information. JR. NATIONAL FINALS RODEO At the 2019Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, the PRCA announced the inaugural Cowboy Channel Jr. NFR that occurred March 3-7, 2020 at the Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth and AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Jr. NFR was televised live on TCC March 7 and guaranteed at least a $10,000 payout to each of the nine event winners who were between the ages of 14-19. THE COWBOY CHANNEL JR. RODEO CAMPS MISSION: To provide a fun, positive rodeo experience. Camp curriculum includes an introduction to roughstock events with an emphasis on safety, fundamentals, chute procedures, livestock safety, overview of riding equipment, injury prevention and management, fitness and nutrition, introduction to PRCA business and goal setting. Instructors deliver encouragement to participants as they pursue both their rodeo careers and scholastic endeavors. Camps are geared at providing learning opportunities for cowboys and cowgirls who have been competing or have had little or no direction in rodeo and want to further learn about the fundamentals from PRCA champions. The program has been made possible through generous contributions of PRCA members and rodeo committees who have donated their time, talents and resources. Donations have included arenas, livestock, meals, and travel costs. PERMIT PROGRAM The PRCA subsidizes the dues portion of PRCA permit certificates for College National Finals Rodeo champions, High School National Finals Rodeo champions, National High School Rodeo Association state champions and Little Britches National Finals Rodeo champions (permit holders must still pay for insurance and the event rep fee). Permit standings are printed in the ProRodeo Sports News and available on ProRodeo.com. SPONSORSHIP The PRCA is a sponsor of the National Collegiate, National High School and National Little Britches rodeo associations. Through those organizations, the PRCA has offered educational sessions to their members, aimed at smoothing the transition to ProRodeo and developing successful PRCA athletes.
