WHAT IS XTREME BRONCS?

The PRCA Xtreme Broncs Tour is a series of events that features only saddle bronc riding competition. These stand-alone events were first approved by the PRCA in 2016. In 2023, there were events across the country

that concluded with a finale in Rapid City, S.D. The format: the Top 12 saddle bronc riders in the PRCA | RAM World Standings and the Top 12 contestants in the Xtreme Broncs standings competed in a long go and a short go for the Xtreme Broncs title and a portion of the nearly $100,000 purse. All money earned on the tour and in the tour finale counted toward qualifying for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. 2023 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS • Zeke Thurston had a memorable 2023 season, earning a saddle bronc single season earnings record of $456,356. Thurston of Big Valley, Alberta, Canada, earned $60,452 of that amount to win his first career Xtreme Broncs Tour title. • Wyatt Casper won the Xtreme Broncs Finals in Rapid City, S.D., on Aug. 20 with 181 points on two head at WW Grandstand Arena, earning $30,838. He had an 89-point ride on Burch Rodeo’s Pip Squeak and then cliched the Finals win with a 92-point trip on J Bar J’s Straight Jacket. • Thurston ($60,452), Wyatt Casper ($48,322), Sage Newman ($47,307) finished in the top three in the Xtreme Broncs Tour standings. • Past Xtreme Broncs Tour champions are Brody Cress, Wade Sundell (2019); Ryder Wright (2020); Dawson Hay (2021) and Cress (2022).
