Florida tie-down roper won inaugural NCFR title

BY MATT NABER D .R. Daniel wasn’t like most tie-down ropers in the 1980s and ’90s. Towering above his competition at 6-foot-3, and 240 pounds, the tie-down roping titan was a force to be reckoned with inside the arena. The Florida cowboy won the first two National Circuit Finals Rodeos (1987-88) and the average at the 1986 National Finals Rodeo.
