Florida tie-down roper won inaugural NCFR title
BY MATT NABER D .R. Daniel wasn’t like most tie-down ropers in the 1980s and ’90s. Towering above his competition at 6-foot-3, and 240 pounds, the tie-down roping titan was a force to be reckoned with inside the arena. The Florida cowboy won the first two National Circuit Finals Rodeos (1987-88) and the average at the 1986 National Finals Rodeo. Outside the arena his demeanor was far from competitive. “D.R. was one of the most different personalities, you never knew if he was serious, ever,” said ProRodeo Hall of
