PRCA Business Journal - March 29, 2024
1st, 4th, and 9th from the Qualifying Performance. Section two: 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, and 2nd, 5th, and 8th from the Qualifying Performance. Section three: 3, 4, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 3rd, 6th, 7th, and 10th from the Qualifying Performance. Contestants ranking will be dependent on the contestants who enter. For example, if the contestant who is ranked 1st in the standings does not enter, and the contestant who is ranked 2nd does enter, the contestant who is ranked 2nd in the standings will fill the #1 position since he was the highest ranked contestant who actually entered. After the contestants have been placed in the three sections, PROCOM will draw a random order for the contestants within each section to be listed on the judges sheets. The top 4 contestants based on highest scores from each of the three sections will advance to the finals. If ties result in more than 4 to advance, see following tie breaker procedure. If there are less than 4 qualified rides in a section, the contestant with the next highest score from the other sections who is not already advancing, will advance to fill that position. TIE BREAKER PROCEDURE - Prior to the event, the judges will randomly draw a number (1 through 30) for each of the 30 contestants. This number will be used to break any ties for advancement to the finals. For example, if 4th place in a section is tied between two contestants, and one contestant’s drawn number is #1 and the other contestant’s drawn number is #12, the contestant with the lowest number which in the example is #1, will advance to the finals. TURN-OUT, DR’s and VIR’s in the Darby Extreme Bareback event on Sunday will be replaced by contestants from the alternate list. If the Qualifying Performance is one go-round, the order of the alternate list will be based on highest single scores in the Qualifying Performance. If the Qualifying Performance is two go-rounds or one go-round with a progressive or a finals, the alternate list will be based on highest rankings in the average. Contestants who desire to be used as alternates must check-in with the rodeo secretary no later than one hour prior to the start of the Extreme event. After the one hour check-in deadline, the alternates will be randomly drawn to the available positions. If stock has already been drawn the alternate contestant will compete on the animal that he has been drawn by the contestant that he is replacing. DRAFT PROCESS - Will be used to assign stock to contestants. The draft process will occur at the rodeo secretary’s office (or location still to be determined) 2 hours prior to the start of the event. STOCK DRAW FOR THREE SECTIONS: There will be 12 horses set for each section with 10 contestants in each section. In order listed on the judges sheets, each contestant will draw a number, 1 through 10. The contestant who draws #1 will be the first to select an animal on which he will compete. Contestants will select their competition animals in order of the numbers that they draw. If a contestant is not physically present to select his animal, he will be moved to the bottom of the draw order. After all contestants who are present has selected their competition animals, the judges will draw animals for the contestants who are not present from the remaining animals not yet selected. The two animals not selected will become the re-rides. A coin flip will determine which will be the first re-ride. This procedure will be followed for all three sections. The time and location of the draft process will be included in PROCOM callbacks. STOCK DRAW FOR THE FINALS: The buck order of the horses to be used in the finals will be established prior to the stock draw. The draw order will be based on scores in the long go-round. The contestant with the highest score in the long go round will draw first and the contestant with the
