NOTE: This event will count for qualification for the 2023 National Finals Rodeo and the 2023 Rookie of the Year Standings as long as the contestant has competed at a minimum of 40 PRCA rodeos during the 2023 rodeo year. Contestants who turn-out or doctor’s release the Darby Extreme Bareback event on June 4 will be replaced by the next highest ranking on the alternate list for the Extreme event which will be based on highest scores in the average from the Qualifying Performance. GRACE PERIOD: Will expire one hour after entries close. QUALIFICATIONS: 30 entries will be accepted for the Darby Extreme Bareback event on Sun., June 4. The top 20 who enter based on 2023 PRCA World Standings (as of 7 days prior to entry closing) will be accepted as entries for the Darby Extreme Bareback event on Sunday, June 4. Ten contestants will advance from the Qualifying Performance on Saturday, June 3 to the Extreme event on Sunday, June 4. If less than 20 contestants enter the Darby Extreme Bareback event on June 4th, remaining available positions will be filled from contestants advancing from the Qualifying performance based on highest scores (not to exceed a total of 30). FORMAT FOR THE QUALIFYING PERFORMANCE: The Qualifying Performance will be either one go-round, two go-rounds, or one go-round with progressive round depending on the number of entries. If one go-round, the contestants with ten highest scores in the Qualifying Performance will advance to the Extreme Event (will not exceed ten). If ties result in more than ten to advance, the tied contestant(s) with the highest ranking in the 2023 World Standings (as of 7 days prior to entry closing) will advance. If two go-rounds or one go- round with a progressive round or a finals, the ten contestants with the highest rankings in the average after two go-rounds will advance to Extreme event. If ties result in more than ten to advance, the tied contestant with the single highest score in the Qualifying Performance will advance. If a contestant does not accept advancement to the Extreme event due to injury in the Qualifying Performance or any other reason, the contestant with the next highest ranking in the average from the Qualifier will advance. Ten contestants will advance. FORMAT FOR THE EXTREME EVENT: One go round with a top 9 finals. The 30 contestants will be placed into 3 sections with 10 contestants in each section. Contestants who enter, based on their rankings in the 2023 World Standings (as of 7 days prior to entry closing) will be placed in the section as follows: Section one: 1, 6, 7, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 1st and 4th, and 9th from the Qualifying Performance. Section two: 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, and 2nd and 5th, and 8th from the Qualifying Performance. Section three: 3, 4, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 3rd, and 6th, 7th, and 10th from the Qualifying Performance. Contestants’ ranking will be dependent on the contestants who enter. For example, if the contestant who is ranked 1st in the standings does not enter, and the contestant who is ranked 2nd does enter, the contestant who is ranked 2nd in the standings will fill the #1 position since he was the highest ranked contestant who actually entered. Pens of horses and re-rides will be set by the committee/ stock contractor for each section in order and contestants will be drawn to the animals in that order by PROCOM.
