PRCA Business Journal - March 5, 2021

• Co-Founder of Rodeo Dumb Girl Consulting Implementing Rodeo 101, Rodeo 2.0 Education. • Helped create and implement the Timer Training for the PRCA To Summarize, I have been on both sides of the fence when it comes to rodeo and would be honored to represent the PRCA as the Contract Personnel Representative at Large. MIKE MATHIS 2021 will mark the thirty ninth year I call ProRodeo my profession. Pride is an emotion that never fades in this business and throughout my time as a proud PRCA cardholder I have been a part of some tremendous milestones in the industry. In addition to being coordinator of my hometown rodeo in Lufkin, it has been my honor to serve our great sport on the Executive Council for the past eight years, representing Contract Personnel as well the ultimate nod three years ago to join the administration of the PRCA, serving as the Vice Chairman on the Board of Directors. As a long-time committee member of one of our association’s top medium rodeos, veteran of both the Executive Council and the Board of Directors, and most importantly, announcer, I enjoy the privilege of a truly well-rounded view of the sport and what we as contract personnel bring to the best rodeos in the business. Listening to fellow cardholders and understanding what we need and where we want to be is a hallmark of this position and something I have been proud to prove throughout my previous term. I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve you all. Together, WE are ProRodeo. Stock Contractor Representative MARTY BARNES – No statement received JERRY DORENKAMP Thank you for allowing me to represent you. I would appreciate your continued support for another term. DAVE MOREHEAD – No statement received STEVE SUTTON I am the fifth generation of Sutton Rodeo Company, started by my great grandfather, Edwin on our ranch in South Dakota in 1926. My grandpa James Sr and Father Jim Jr are in the ProRodeo Hall of Fame, so I learned from the best about rodeo livestock, breeding programs and how to keep a business running for the next generation. While my heart is for the livestock, I know rodeo production from the smallest event to 44 years of producing one of the largest, the 2020 Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year, Rodeo Rapid City. I wear many hats as a committee man, former contestant, and rodeo producer. Knowledge of all positions makes a rodeo successful. I will work hard to keep stock contractors in a position to be successful in the PRCA. I have served on the PRCA Executive Council, Badland Circuit Board, State High School and Regional College Rodeo boards with an eye to growing our sport from the ground up. Rodeo is my life and I want my children and grandchildren to have a future in the PRCA. I want to serve on the PRCA Executive Council to make that happen and appreciate your vote. Rodeo Committee Representative ($10,000.01 - $20,000) DAVID PETTY Thank you for allowing me the opportunity for the last few years to represent the smaller committees in our organization. Our rodeo in Claremore has grown and we’re able to increase the prize money, which in turn will have me ineligible for the 10K to 20K representative to the council. That being said, please exercise your voting privilege as a PRCA committee and elect Mr. Bryant Nelson of Jerome, ID. I hereby pledge my support and endorse Bryant Nelson for the 10K to 20K category. He will prove to be a good voice for all rodeo committees. BRYANT NELSON I am deeply honored and humbled to be nominated by my peers to represent small rodeo committees on the Executive Council. I have been a member of the PRCA since 1988, with the last 18 years serving on the Jerome Idaho Rodeo Committee. I have watched many changes over the years and believe committee’s voices often get overlooked. I look forward to being a voice for rodeo committees. It takes everyone to be successful; committees, contractors and contestants. As we go forward, we all need to find a common ground for the future of our sport. Once again it will be a pleasure and honor to be a representative for small rodeo committees. Thank you for your consideration.
