tools such as sorting sticks and paddles are also acceptable, when used appropriately, to move and load livestock. Once livestock is loaded into the lead up alleys or the chute which it will compete out of, the a small hand-held prod may only be used when needed for the safety of the livestock, contestant or personnel. All determinations of necessary use of a prod during competition will be determined by a rodeo judge. Any violation of this rule will result in an initial fine of $1,000 to the Stock Contractor/stock contracting firm owning the animal with that fine progressively doubling for any additional offense(s). The contestant will receive an automatic option for a reride. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.1 Only designated personnel may use the electric prod when an animal is in the bucking chute. This person or persons shall be designated to the judges prior to the rodeo performance or slack and shall be 18 years of age or older. Failure to designate a person prior to the performance will result in a fine of $100, doubling with each offense. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.2 In the roughstock events, a hand-held device may be used only on an animal that has been given the opportunity to leave the bucking chute and has stalled. The animal must have had a chance to turn out of the chute before the prod can be used. If the chute gate is closed and the animal is given another chance, the prod may be applied at the time the gate has opened to a point at which the animal can exit the chute. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.3 In the timed events, a hand-held device may be used at the line judge’s discretion on an animal that has laid down in the roping chute to make the animal stand up only. No device may not be used to make the animal leave the chute when the gates are opened. A pusher only may encourage the animal to leave the roping chute. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.4 In lead up chutes, a small hand-held device may be used on the hip, top of shoulder/withers, shoulders, or rib area. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.5 In the chutes, the prod shall only be used on the shoulder and/or the lower neck area. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.6 Prods will not be used to agitate any animal. If an animal refuses to load, a re-ride or extra shall be used, and the animal shall be backed out of the lead up alley if practicable. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.7 Known chute stalling animals, as per 8.7.7.2, shall be schooled before being used in competition at another PRCA event. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.7.1 Schooling will consist of loading the animal in the chute, hanging the flank, rigging, saddle, or neck rope on it and training the animal to leave without the use of an electric prod or any other device. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.7.2 An animal that has been reported by judges as a stalling animal more than three times will be considered a known stalling animal. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.7.2.1 If a stalling animal is taken out of the draw and it causes the stock contractor to have less than the required number of head of stock in an event, fines in accordance with R7.8.5 will be assessed. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.7.3 Video evidence of schooling showing the animal learning to exit the chute will be submitted to PRCA Rodeo Administration before the animal is allowed back in the draw. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.7.3.1 If an animal is taken out of the draw at a rodeo, it may be put back in the draw at the same rodeo if the reporting judge was present or has been presented with video evidence of schooling showing the animal as being satisfactory. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.7.3.2 If said animal stalls again at the same rodeo, that animal will be taken out of the draw for any remaining performances/slacks at that rodeo including any short go round. That animal must be schooled and proven to not stall before being allowed back in the draw in any subsequent PRCA event. (Stock Contractor Executive Council 10/20) New Rule 8.7.7.4 An animal that has a documented history on file, as per 8.7.7.2, with Rodeo Administration as a stalling animal more than once in a rodeo season may be excluded from any broadcast performance, including the National Finals Rodeo, during the current rodeo season.
