EGUSQUIZA, LORD REUNITE FOR NFR OPEN TEAM ROPING TITLE By Zach Alvira D ustin Egusquiza and Levi Lord know what success feels like.

The team roping pair entered the 2024 NFR as the No. 1 header and heeler. They remained a team up until the summer run, when Egusquiza joined his brother-in-law JC Flake, while Lord joined Shay Dixon Carroll.

The two qualified as a pair at the NFR Open at the Pikes Peak of Bust Rodeo, reuniting them as a team with a national championship on the line. There was some rust to knock off between the two, as they opened the first round of Pool B with an 11.3-sec ond run. But in Round 2, a 6.5-second run helped them qualify for the cham pionship. That’s where they were at their best with a 4.8-second run to win the title. “To win money like this is huge," Egusquiza added. "It takes a little stress off for the rest of the year. We came close to winning this thing a time or two, so it's pretty cool to final ly get it done." "We've had a lot of success together and recently we've been doing a little different stuff,” Lord added. “But to come back together and win a rodeo like this is pretty cool."
