BILL DUVALL, BROTHER OF HALL OF FAMER ROY DUVALL, PASSES AWAY
B ill Duvall, who formed a steer wrestling team with his broth er, ProRodeo Hall of Famer Roy Duvall, has passed away. He was 83 years old. First reported by Kendra Santos, Bill passed away on July 13 at his home in Checotah, Okla. Bill's first action in rodeo came at just 13 years old when he entered the Checotah Rodeo. He compet ed in bareback and bull riding but eventually began steer wrestling with Roy. The brothers purchased their Rodeo Cowboys Association - now the PRCA - cards in 1966 and began competing professionally. Bill be gan hazing for Roy and the two had an illustrious career doing so. Bill was the hazer for Roy, who qualified for the National Finals Ro deo 24 times and won three world championships in the process. He also hazed for Ote Berry, who won four world titles. Roy was inducted into the ProRo deo Hall of Fame in 1979. Berry was inducted nearly 20 years later in 1998.
Bill, for his hazing efforts, was inducted into the National Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2018. A celebration of life was held for Bill on Friday, July 18 in Checotah. According to Santos, he is survived by his wife, Imogene; son Sam and his wife, Tami; son Spud and his wife, Jenny; grandchildren Kadee (Ben), Riley (Megan), Traegan and Taggart; great grandchildren Helen, Dottie, Sammie Bell, Chaney and Cruze; brother Roy and his wife, Karen; and many nieces, nephews,
cousins and extended, loving fam ily. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Roy and Naomi Helen Duvall, and his in-laws, Ar thur and Thelma Louise Frazier. Bill's family asked donations in his honor be made to the Justin Cow boy Crisis Fund.
