Roping World Champion in 2005, 2008, 2017 18, clocked a time of 42.1 seconds on three head to win the Crooked River Roundup which was a memorable moment in his decorated career. “Man, it was good, that is the first time I have ever been in Prineville, and I’ve always wanted to go up and see it, you know,” said Snedecor, who won the steer roping portion of the rodeo, June 19. Snedecor earned $2,653 at the rodeo all coming from the average. Snedecor, who is firmly in the top five in the PRCA | RAM World Standings, is aiming to qualify for his 23rd National Finals Steer Roping. “I’ve had a rough three weeks . . . placed here and there, but just rounds no real average checks anywhere, so it was nice to get to go up there and get an average check,” Snedecor said. “It was good on my confidence that’s for sure. “I’ve always wanted to go to it (Prineville). It’s just a long way to go up there and there is nothing else around it really.” What was initially an entry on a whim turned into a big win after catching three head in one day in Prineville. “I up and entered it (Crooked River Roundup) this year and borrowed a horse I have never been on before,” Snedecor said. He continued speaking of the immediate chemistry he and the horse had that led to his breakout win. “I borrowed Duck Benson’s little bay horse, and he was outstanding; (the horse) was easy, friendly, it was a good choice to ride right there,” Snedecor said. “Man, I loved it; the weather was awesome, a little chilly in the morning, but the weather was so good, and the hospitality was even better.” Snedecor acknowledged he has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. The steer roper spoke with excitement in his voice, speaking of being able to continue doing what he loves and cares about most in life, “I’m going to enjoy the style I get to rope and do what I love. It’s always good to get a win and it’s especially good for me to get a win right there; it’s a blessing every day to last this long and keep on being competitive in the sport I love.”
