PRORODEO COWBOYS SHARE FAVORITE MEMORIES IN HONOR OF PRCA’S 90TH YEAR PRCA STAFF

IN HONOR OF THE 90TH ANNIVERSARY OF PRORODEO, THE PRORODEO SPORTS NEWS SPOKE TO MULTIPLE COWBOYS ON THE ROAD AND ASKED THEM TO SHARE THEIR FAVORITE MEMORIES - BOTH NEW AND OLD - OF THE WESTERN SPORT. THOSE MEMORIES WILL BE SHARED IN THE PRORODEO SPORTS NEWS EVERY MONTH LEADING UP TO THE OFFICIAL ANNIVERSARY OF THE PRCA IN OCTOBER. TILDEN HOOPER

rodeoed pretty hard for like five years before I made the Finals. That year, I made the short round in

man’s last night calling the action there, that was, to me, my favorite ro deo memory so far. I mean, there’s a lot of them, but that one is - that’s definitely jumping off the page. “I also consider him a close personal friend too. I would just say too, when I imagine rodeo, I’m visualizing myself on a bucking horse or just when I think rodeo, it is Tall man’s voice calling the action.”

Cheyenne. My dad was there. My cousin, Johnny, was there. (Wife) Loni and I were dating at the time, and they called me out there for the short round. I was leading the short round after I rode. Clint Cannon had a re-ride, and that was prime Cannon, so it was probably not a good chance, and I ended up winning the rodeo. I just remem ber that whole drive home. I couldn’t sleep if I wanted, and I had half of my whole crew with me. “Since then, I’ve gotten to take my kids on stage at the NFR - well, not the youngest one yet - but some of those memories are pretty good, too. At the time, it’s kind of nerve-wracking talking on the microphone and trying to introduce everybody and not fumble, but it’s still good stuff. I’ve also had great traveling partners my whole career, guys I still keep in touch with. They all make great memories.”

ory has to be the first year I won my gold buckle. I won by $1.67, beating The Legend (Guy Allen). It’s something you dream of your whole life. When you’re roping the dummy, you want to be a world champion. “It came down to the last run. I had to catch that steer and win the average to give myself a chance, and that happened. “I didn’t know until … it was a while. I had a good friend there that I grew up with, Chad Roehling, and he had it kind of figured out. He goes, ‘It’s like a dollar and some cents.’ But I had to wait for them to tell me, but I guess he had it figured pretty good. I try not to figure any of that stuff anymore. I just do my job, and they pay them to do the figuring. If I do my job, they’ll figure me pretty good.”

KASHTON FORD BAREBACK RIDER “My favorite memory is when I won the Red Bluff (Calif.) Wild Ride in 2024. I was dressed up as Elvis Presley, and I was broke. I

needed money, so I had to do the (Wild Ride), or I couldn’t fly home. I think I won $3,000 right there, and I was able to fly home. It was a great experience.”
