Longfellow nabs Donita Barnes Lifetime Award

He has won four PRCA World Championships in 2005, 2008, 2017 and 2018. Snedercor also has 34 career NFSR round wins, including Round 3 and Round 10 in 2024. $550K The total purse ($550,000) of the 2025 National Finals Steer Roping, which is scheduled for Nov. 14-15 at the Kansas Star in Mulvane. That is an increase of $25,000 from the 2024 purse. $133K The amount of money

On Dec. 4, McCaffery will encourage rodeo committees and PRORODEO members to reach new heights as the keynote speaker at the 2024 PRCA National Convention in Las Vegas. Longfellow was chosen as the Donita Barnes Lifetime Achievement Award winner for her 57 years of tireless service to the rodeo industry “I guess I’m too old to learn anything new, maybe,” Longfellow, 79, joked. “It’s kind of a family deal. My daughter is also a PRCA secretary. And my granddaughter is in college rodeo.” The PRCA Donita Barnes Lifetime Achievement Award honors contract personnel such as announcers, bullfighters, clowns, specialty acts, secretaries and timers who have been PRCA members for at least 15 years and have committed their lives to the rodeo industry yet received little recognition for their commitment and contributions. The inaugural Contract Lifetime Achievement Award’s posthumous recipient was long-time PRCA secretary Donita Barnes. Longfellow cut her teeth in the secretary business alongside Barnes. The award will be presented at the PRCA Awards Banquet on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. (PT) at the South Point in Las Vegas. Longfellow served as the Columbia River Circuit Secretary from its inception in 1975 until she stepped down in 2007. She currently works as the Columbia River Circuit board treasurer and continues to push for the circuit’s advancement, with no imminent plans to step back.

At the PRCA National Convention, McCaffery will address rodeo committees and members from across the country as they prepare and cast a vision for the upcoming 2025 rodeo season. When McCaffery ventures to the center of the rodeo universe, he also plans on attending his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Teton Ridge. To support her circuit, she’s attended every National Circuit Finals and NFR Open to support cowboys from the Columbia River Circuit. Longfellow was inducted into the Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2019 and resides in Hermiston, Ore. When Longfellow started as a secretary, she took entries from local taverns, spent summers traveling to rodeos with her two kids and saddle bronc riding husband Clyde and did whatever was needed to do the best job possible. And now she’s proud to see the next generation of her family chart their own paths in rodeo and the Western industry.
