back to our community. PRORODEO is the avenue that we’re allowed to do that through. So to be recognized for that is a pretty big deal. I’m very humbled.” Polaris Remuda Awards The PRCA is excited to announce the 2025 Polaris Remuda Award winners. The stock contractor honored with the best pen of bucking horses brought to PRCA rodeos this year was Brookman Rodeo, and the rodeo committee recognized for assembling the best pen of bucking horses was Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days. The annual Remuda Awards go to the stock contracting firm and rodeo committee that provide the best, most consistent pen of buck ing horses, creating the best opportunities for contestants to score well. It marks the first time that Brookman Rodeo and Cheyenne Frontier Days received Remuda Awards. PRCA Vet of the Year Dr. Leslie Schur has been named the recipi ent of the 2025 PRCA Veterinarian of the Year Award. A Washington native, Schur has been active in the equine community since she was young and quickly realized her passion for working with horses. She has owned and operated Desert Pines Equine Center in Las Vegas since 1998, when she opened the practice with Dr. Garth Lamb. Retired now, Lamb still makes yearly visits to the clinic. On Friday, Oct. 17, during one of those visits, he had the honor of informing Schur she had won the PRCA Veterinarian of the Year Award. “When we were visiting, he had to take a phone call for a minute then he came back,” Schur said. “He’s like, ‘OK, I guess I’m the one that gets to tell you.’ So, Garth Lamb, who I rode on his coattails when I moved to Las Ve gas and joined him in the practice, was the one to tell me. He was Veterinarian of the Year in 2011, so that was a pretty special honor.” Linderman Award The PRCA Linderman Award is one of the most prestigious awards in PRORODEO. It recognizes a cowboy who won at least $1,000 in three events during the PRORODEO season, and those events must include at least one roughstock and one timed event. The 2025 Linderman Award winner is Darcy Kersh after an exceptional season in which he took home more than $1,700 in three events. “This means a lot to me,” Kersh told the PRORODEO Sports News. “It’s been a goal of mine ever since I first found out about (the award). I used to think it was pretty cool as a kid when guys could work both ends of the are

na. There aren’t many guys who do it anymore, so it’s pretty cool.” Nutrena Horse of the Year Awards pre sented by AQHA Success in the sport of rodeo doesn’t fall on just the cowboys and cowgirls. On Monday, Nov. 3, Lucia received recog nition for his contributions to the sport as the 2025 recipient of the Donita Barnes Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Ritchey Tags. “This award is special because it recognizes the unsung laborers in our industry that don’t often get the credit for the amount of blood, sweat and tears that they put in to entertain fans and put on events and do what rodeo has done for all of these years,” Lucia told the PRO RODEO Sports News. John Justin Standard of the West Com mitteeman of the Year Austin Curtis, the chairman of the Sikeston (Mo.)
