hard because it means more to me, especially this,” Wright said. “This is what I live for, the stories when it comes down to the last ride.” Meanwhile, he also placed 10th in the saddle bronc riding average at the Wrangler NFR. “Honestly, tonight was the most relaxed I’ve ever been. As soon as Ryder and Rusty went (in saddle bronc riding), all my stress was gone, and I told them, ‘I thought I was worried about me, but it was you two that I was worried about,’” Wright laughed. “As soon as the bronc riding was over, the stress was gone, and I was joking with everyone behind the chutes and excited to be there. How can you not be excited when you’re in that spot? “ Win, lose or draw I was going to be happy with whoever won, and I’m sure glad I came out on top though.”

His all-around world title was confirmed in Round 9, but Round 10 was the deciding factor for bull riding. “I wanted to look at the world standings coming into today, and everyone in my family told me to put my phone away and not play with it,” Wright said. “They really put it to where it was fun for me instead of me sitting there adding things up.” Wright considers the final two weeks of September to be the turning point of the season. “I was not riding near where I wanted to be and was falling off horses I should have ridden and was falling off bulls I already rode and it was horrible,” Wright said. “It doesn’t matter how you start, it’s how you finish, that’s what Dad always said.”
