Crawford took a moment to describe the key to her victory – her horse, T’Boy, 15. “That horse, I can’t even tell you how grateful I am to that horse,” Crawford said. KINSEL TAKES THIRD BARREL RACING TITLE Hailey Kinsel now has three barrel racing world titles, and all three over the last three seasons. The Cotulla, Texas, cowgirl won five rounds and placed in eight at the 2020Wrangler NFR to finish with $349,076 in the world standings. Kinsel earned $270,615 at the Wrangler NFR, a barrel racing record. Thanks to those earnings, Kinsel also won the RAMTop Gun Award, which goes to the contestant who wins the most money in any single event at the NFR. “They’re all so equally different in so many ways,” Kinsel said about her world titles. “The first one being a dream that you know is there. The second being you know what it really feels like. And the third, being this year and being as crazy as it was, it was more than just a want.” Kinsel also knows she has a superstar horse in Sister. “They ask if she knows how special she is, and absolutely she knows she’s special to me, but I don’t think she knows she’s done a great thing,” Kinsel said. “I think she just has a great time. That, for me, is the most important thing. She loves it, she continues to love it, she has a blast out there.” For the 33rd year, the Pro Rodeo League of Women hosted its annual fundraiser for the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to injured cowboys. Since 1987, the Pro Rodeo League of Women has raised $2 million to support the JCCF. This year, the sold-out luncheon consisted of a Texas-sized tribute to Charlie Daniels – who was a longtime supporter of the Pro Rodeo League of Women – Dec. 10 at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth. Daniels was a member of the JCCF Board of Directors and member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. He was also a regular performer at the NFR. “We jumped through some hoops, and thanks to some great Texas supporters we were able to pull off a unique event in Texas, honoring the late Charlie Daniels and raising money at the same time,” said Stacey Custer, a Pro Rodeo League of Women board member. The event included a music tribute to Daniels by distinguished musicians, silent and live auctions, and a saddle raffle provided by Sherry Cervi and Martin Saddlery. Auction items included a signed fiddle and bow Daniels used to play at the 2019 Finals, a Cody Johnson autographed guitar and a South Point NASCAR 2021 trip to Las Vegas. Rodeo contestants Sterling Crawley, Brett Custer and Cody Custer also provided testimonials on their injuries and subsequent assistance. “Our group is committed to raising funds for injured cowboys,” Stacey Custer said. “Despite the last-minute move of the Wrangler NFR to Texas, we were determined to host a fundraiser.” A variety of people attended the event, from Fort Worth locals to notable rodeo personnel. Attendance was limited to adhere to social-distance guidelines. At the end of the event, the ProRodeo League of Women presented an $80,000 check to JCCF board members. LADIES LUNCHEON A BIG SUCCESS
