PRCA ProRodeo photo by Roseanna Sales BY TRACY RENCK A pair of veteran roughstock stars were rewarded for their performances at the 2020 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, and a newcomer joined them in the spotlight. Beutler & Son Rodeo’s Nutrena’s Killer Bee and Northcott Macza Pro Horse of the Year and was voted top bareback horse in Round 3 of the 2019 NFR after bucking off Austin Foss. She was also the top bareback horse of the 2018 NFR and the top saddle bronc horse of the 2013 and 2014 NFR. Killer Bee was runner-up for the 2015 Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year. “A horse like Killer Bee is rare,” Beutler said. “I can’t ask any more from her.” Get Smart, 19, weighs 1,100 pounds and is 14.3 hands. Rodeo’s OLS Tubs Get Smart were selected 2020Wrangler NFR top bareback horse and top saddle bronc horse, respectively. Universal Pro Rodeo’s Pookie Holler, making his Finals debut, was chosen as the top bull. “This is great,” Bennie Beutler said. “The older she (Killer Bee) gets, it seems like the better she gets. I will not have another like her. She just likes to buck. Some horses like it, some don’t. The more they spur the harder she bucks.” Killer Bee, 15, weighs 1,350 pounds and is 16.3 hands. “You can’t pet her, but she will follow you around,” Beutler said. “She’s pretty docile. She’s not one of those wild horses or anything like that, and she stands perfectly in the chute.” At the 2020Wrangler NFR, Killer Bee was chosen top bareback horse of the go-round in Round 8 after bucking off Cole Reiner. Richmond Champion finished third in Round 3 with an 87.5-point ride aboard Killer Bee. Killer Bee has quite the résumé. She was the 2019 PRCA Bareback

“Winning the (top stock of the NFR) is probably the best thing you can win, the reason being you’re against all the best animals in one spot,” saidWard Macza, owner of Northcott Macza Pro Rodeo. “I’m very proud of the old horse. There’s not a lot of horses at that age that really still like their job. He’s a unique old horse. He’s not very big, he weighs 1,100 pounds, and he bucks off probably 80 percent of his guys, and when they do ride him, they win a lot of money on him.” Like Killer Bee, Get Smart is no stranger to acclaim. He was the 2019 PRCA Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year and the top saddle bronc horse of the 2018 NFR. Get Smart is also the reigning, five-time Canadian Professional Rodeo Association Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year. “His heart is as big as a house,” Macza said. “When you look at him in
