SHORT ROUND Jr. NFR returns to Fort Worth’s historic coliseum Youth event set

T he Jr. National Finals Rodeo, originally scheduled for March, will now be held at the famous Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, June 28-July 3. The Jr. NFR will guarantee at least $200,000 in added money, with champions winning a minimum of $10,000 per event. Entries opened April 15 at www.jrrodeo.org. The Jr. NFR, which will crown the 2021 world champions, attracts the best youth contestants who have qualified through a variety of pathways, including the top place winners from all major

youth rodeo associations. The list of qualified contestants is available at jrrodeo.org/qualifiers. The world champions in the timed events also earn a

semifinal position at the 2022 RFD-TV’s The American at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for a run at a share of $1 million in prize money. The American is scheduled for Feb. 28-March 6. To join or to host a Jr. Rodeo-sanctioned event, go to www.jrrodeo.org or call 719-528-4723.

Bareback rider Clark passes away Derek Clark, a 15-time National

As the official network of the PRCA and the exclusive broadcast and streaming partner of the Wrangler NFR, The Cowboy Channel has enjoyed tremendous growth since its launch in 2017. The Cowboy Channel Cowboy Christmas will run concurrently with the Wrangler NFR over 10 days and will feature more than 500,000 square feet of show floor and nearly 350 exhibitors from across the U.S. In addition, The Cowboy Channel will broadcast live each day from Cowboy Christmas.

Clark served on the PRCA Board of Directors from 1998-2005. Clark resigned in 2005 due to injuries received at the Springdale, Ark., rodeo while serving as a pickup man. In 2018, he was inducted into the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Finals Rodeo qualifier in saddle bronc riding, passed away April 8. He was 60. The Oklahoma native qualified for the NFR 15 times (1983, 1985-1996, 1998-99). He won saddle bronc riding titles in the Prairie Circuit (1983, 1991); Great Lakes Circuit (1987-1990, 1993- 96, 1998); and Texas Circuit (1986). Clark was the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo champion in Pocatello, Idaho, in 1991 and won or placed at numerous major PRCA
