RodeoHouston keeps giving The Houston Livestock Show and

BY THE NUMBERS 15 Texas won its 15th team title at the 2021 RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo, which ended April 10 in Kissimmee, Fla. That’s the most of any circuit. Texas won titles in 1994- 96, 1998, 2000-01, 2003, 2006, 2010, 2013, 2015-16, 2018-19 and 2021. $10.7K The amount of money ($10,700) earned by bareback rider Tim O’Connell when he won the Riggin Rally Xtreme Broncs in Weatherford, Texas, with a world record- tying 94-point ride on Frontier Rodeo’s Gun Fire, April 3. $133K The combined amount of money ($133,479) earned by the eight event winners at the recently completed RAM NCFR. Frontier Days will be Garth Brooks, the seven-time CMA Entertainer of the Year, Cheyenne Frontier Days announced. Brooks, who will perform July 23, is also the first and only artist in history to receive nine Diamond Awards for the nine albums certified by the RIAA at over 10 million album sales each. He remains the No. 1-selling solo artist in U.S. history, certified by the RIAA with 157 million album sales. Brooks was just named one of the five artists that will receive a Kennedy Center Honor this year.

Tarleton Rodeo Hall of Fame announces new HOF inductees The 2021 Tarleton Rodeo Hall of Fame inductees are barrel racer Sue Majors, roper Kirby Eppert and bareback riders Perry Lee and Richmond Champion. The inductees will be presented during the April 24 performance of the season-ending Tarleton Stampede Rodeo in Stephenville, Texas. The quartet will be inducted into the Tarleton Hall of Fame during ceremonies in November. Majors was the first woman to make the College National Finals Rodeo while representing Tarleton State College, qualifying in 1965 and 1966. Eppert, winner of the 2007 CNFR All-Around Cowgirl title, qualified multiple times in breakaway roping and goat tying. As a pro, she qualified for the National Finals Rodeo in 2020. Lee was the first bareback rider to win a national championship for Tarleton, taking the CNFR event in 1973. Champion became the first bareback rider to earn $1 million for a single ride at RFD-TV’s The American, claiming that distinction while still a Tarleton student. He has qualified for the NFR six times.
