traveled the rodeo circuit in a horse van pulling a trailer which was their first home. When their kids were school age, Rudy and Joanne settled in Sylmar, Calif. Friend Phil Rawlins introduced Rudy to the “picture business” where he worked for 30 years portraying the true cowboy he was in the background of many feature films andWestern series including “Rawhide,” “Gunsmoke,” “Bonanza” and “Little House on the Prairie.” He continued to compete at local rodeos until the early ’70s. He was inducted into the St. Paul Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2006. In retirement, Rudy and Joanne moved back to the Northwest, living near Salem, Ore., from 1987 to 2019 when they decided to move east to Haines to be near family. Joanne passed away April 21, 2020. Doucette is survived by his children Dan Doucette, Mary Ann ( J.P.) Ingram and Lori (Eric) Wilmes.

RUDY DOUCETTE

Rudy Doucette, a PRCA Gold Card member and original Turtle Association member, passed away March 29 near his home in Haines, Ore. It was his 98th birthday. He was born on the family ranch in Malta, Mont., March 29, 1923. Doucette was a young adult when the family sold the ranch and moved to Phoenix. His ranching, horsemanship and roping skills served him well in his rodeo career as he competed in bulldogging and tie-down roping fromCalgary to Madison Square Garden to Phoenix, and many points in between in the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s. He was a consistent winner competing on the legendary blue roan he purchased fromDee Burke in the early ’50s. Many world champions including Dean Oliver made it to the pay window mounted on Old Roany. Doucette married Joanne Coleman of St. Paul, Ore., Aug. 16, 1952, and the couple
