SPENCER WRIGHT’S FAMILY TIME My daughter, Steeley, is almost a year old. She is getting to where she is starting to ride. That’s actually CoBurn (Bradshaw’s) pony (in the picture). We were all at the park that day. She loves all the animals it seems like. She likes to sit on the horses and doesn’t like to get off. We plan on getting her a pony or something she can ride. We were at the park – me, my wife (Kallie), my sister (Rebecca), her kids and my brother-in-law (CoBurn) – and we were leading them around. We’ve been staying pretty busy, and I had some things to catch up on around the house. I’m even fixing a bike tire as we speak. That’s one positive thing about it, getting to have lots of family time.

LEARNING THE ROPES WITH TY HARRIS AND HAVEN MEGED Ty Harris, Haven Meged and Justin Maass held a roping school in Seguin, Texas, on March 19. About 28 students showed up to learn the ropes from the pros. Harris: We had some advanced guys there that are circuit rodeo guys who are good, some older ones wanting to get into it and some beginners who had never roped before. We had one as young as an 11-year-old girl and a man in his mid-40s. I’m practicing, working out, putting on some clinics and trying to stay on top of my game mentally and physically. It’s always good to give back to others when there’s off time like this. Anyone who wants to learn, I think I can help. I think you have to dig down deep and work hard to stay on top of your craft since we don’t have a set date for when we will come back. You have to enjoy the time off and also work hard to stay sharp for when we get to go back to work. Meged: It’s pretty cool to do those schools, give back to the kids and help the younger generation out. They asked if we were still going to have it and I wasn’t worried about not having it. It’s something we just have to do. You have to keep moving forward in life and pushing to get better. If you don’t work at it, you won’t get better. All those kids wanted to get better, so they all showed up. The school went great. I look forward to doing a lot more of them in the next couple of weeks up here in Montana. Aside from that, my dad is keeping me plenty busy with 600 calves to calve out. We’ve got probably 50 on the ground now.

HORN HUNTING WITH STETSON WRIGHT My younger brother (Statler) and I have had pretty good luck with finding antlers over in Beaver, Utah, near where my dad lives and where my little brother goes. It’s been really good. My dad always has deer and elk around his place. So far, I’ve found a couple deer horns, that elk set (in the picture) – my brother has a ton of them. I just bought a house and got moved in a couple days ago and got to go shed hunting. I’m just west of my dad’s house, about seven miles from him.
