Harrison stumbles on burglar mid-rodeo

BY TRACY RENCK A s a rodeo clown/barrelman, John Harrison knows to expect the unexpected.

That wasn’t the case. “I noticed the pants had been pulled off my bed,” Harrison said. “Kenny Bergeron, a bullfighter, was using my trailer to change,

and he always had his stuff folded nice and neat on the couch. I looked over and his pants had been moved, his wallet was wide open and all of our cabin doors were open.” Harrison found an unwanted guest in his trailer, burglarizing the place. “I startled the guy,” Harrison said. “He jumped into my bathroom. I jumped in there and there were a few words exchanged, nothing for print. I made him empty his pockets, and when he did, I grabbed all the cash that he had. My wife walked up about that time and he (the burglar) shoved me, and out the door I went backwards.”

But one of the craziest rodeo stories he was involved in was one he never expected. About six years ago, Harrison was performing at the Crossett (Ark.) Riding Club PRCA Rodeo. During a break in the rodeo, Harrison headed back to his trailer. “I needed to go to the bathroom, so I jumped up in the back of the trailer to go to the bathroom and I felt my trailer shake,” Harrison said. “I thought my wife (Carla) had beaten me back to the trailer and was getting ready.”
