A successful roper and barrel racer in her day, she won buckles, saddles and medals like spare change. She even won a trailer. When Jade Gardner’s mom passed away last year at the age of

67, rodeo took on a new meaning. “She is the main reason that I rodeo. I guess to be out here rodeoing and know that she’s watching me from somewhere, it’s pretty special,” Gardner said. “I know that she’s proud of me.” Gardner is having a career-best PRCA season, earning $9,260 in the Montana Circuit and $11,269 overall.
