BY MATT NABER ProRodeo athletes pick their favorites Fan-tastic COWBOYS AS SPECTATORS Every ProRodeo athlete grew up having someone they enjoyed watching compete. Although they’re now in their old heroes’ boots and don’t always get to watch the rodeos where they’re competing, they remain fans of the sport. Some of this season’s top contenders shared which events and competitors they enjoy both in their event and outside of it.

KY HAMILTON Event: Bull riding Position in rookie standings: 1st Position in world standings: 3rd Age: 20 You said bareback riding is your favorite to watch. So who is your favorite bareback rider to watch?

TimO’Connell and Kaycee Feild, since they make it look so easy and have such rank feet. That’s something that helps in bull riding, having good feet. Have you ever tried bareback riding? I got on a couple of bareback riding horses in Australia in high school, but it didn’t go too well. I didn’t like how hard it is on your body. In bull riding you can make it not so hard on your body, but bareback riding is hard on your body no matter how you do it. Who is your favorite bull rider to watch? If I was going to watch anyone before I ride it’d be Sage (Kimzey). The way he rides, when he stays on, he makes it look so easy and effortless, and that’s what I like to do.

COLBY LOVELL Event: Team roping header NFR Qualifications: 6

(2010-13, 2015-16) Position in world standings: 3rd Age: 33

Aside from team roping, which rodeo event do you like watching?

I enjoy watching all of it, the top people in all events. Who are your favorite team ropers to watch? I like watching all the top guys. There are young guys who do some amazing stuff, too. There are people I’ll see that I’ve never heard of that make good runs. I like watching whomever is on the best horse. Are there any timed-event horses you’re a fan of? There are a couple I like watching. Garrett Tonozzi’s roan mare and Riley Minor’s head horse, Bob, who has been good forever. I like watching horses that give it all they have and try as hard as they can.
