ALLEN BOORE Event: Saddle bronc riding NFR Qualifications: 1 (2016) Position in world standings: 4th Age: 29 Aside from saddle bronc riding, which event do you like watching?

Bareback riding, since it’s bucking horses, the same as what I do, and a good bareback ride looks really cool. If it doesn’t go well, it doesn’t go well at all. When they ride good it looks fun, but if not, it looks painful. Who is your favorite bareback rider? Kaycee (Feild) is always a fan favorite, but one of my favorites is Orin Larsen because of his riding style. He has long legs, and I don’t know how to explain it exactly, but he makes the same ride on every horse no matter if it’s strong or not. It’s just flashy. He’s very consistent and legs are flying everywhere, but he’s in control. Have you ever tried bareback riding? I got on two bareback horses and a couple of bulls, but my parents would only let me do saddle bronc, so that was it. I stayed on both of the bareback horses, but I was too scared to get the gloves with grips on them, so I used a bull riding glove and was barely hanging on by the fingertips. With bulls I rode, one was weak and I got bucked off the other, and that’s a 50% riding percentage, so I figured I’d retire from it.

TYSON DURFEY Event: Tie-down roping NFR Qualifications: 13 (2007-11, 2013-19) Position in world standings: 17th Age: 36

Who is your favorite competitor to watch and why? My favorite guy to watch is Luke Branquinho. He’s a great athlete, and he’s equally as good of a guy outside the arena as he is inside the arena. He treats everyone exactly the same, whether it’s his best friend or someone he sees once a year. It’s a close tie between him and Kaycee Feild. Have you ever tried steer wrestling? I did one time. I tried chute dogging, and five minutes later I got the steer down on the other end of the arena. I weighed about 140 pounds at the time, and as small as I am that isn’t a good combo. Who is your favorite tie-down roper to watch? Oh, man, there are a lot of them. I like watching Shad Mayfield and Haven Meged, they both are pretty electric when they rope. Seeing how fast Shad can be and how consistent Haven is, I like seeing the next generation of ropers take the torch and do well.
