FARM-CITY PRO RODEO HERMISTON, ORE.

Crawford, Medlin climb Tour standings with win Movin’ on Up

BY MATT NABER W ith 10 rodeos left in the ProRodeo Tour and about a month left in the 2019 season, a big win couldn’t have come at a better time for team ropers Charly Crawford and Logan Medlin. Placing second in the first round with a 4.6-second run and winning the average with 10.4 seconds on two head was worth $4,809 at the Farm- City ProRodeo in Hermiston, Ore. More importantly it united the ropers within the Top 24 of the ProRodeo Tour Standings. Now all they need to do is hold onto their qualification for the

ProRodeo Tour Finale in Puyallup, Wash., Sept. 5-8, and they’ll have a shot at scoring one of the last big checks of the regular season – a key ingredient to making the push for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Winning Hermiston pushed the 41-year-old Crawford from 42nd to 35th in the world standings, and Medlin moved from 32nd to 24th. As of Aug. 19, Crawford was about $21,000 away from the Top 15, and Medlin had about $16,000 separating him from 15th. “I’m far enough back that I’ve got to catch a lot of steers before I get to worrying about the world standings,” said Medlin, 28. Hermiston is a special one for Crawford because it’s a second home for him, having lived there after college. He won it in 2014 with Shay Carroll.
