Solomon, Thibodeaux share in tie-down roping win Veteran Cory Solomon and up-and- comer RyanThibodeaux split the tie-down roping win at Cheyenne Frontier Days as each stopped the clock in 10.3 second in the finals. “Ryan was right in front of me, and he was 10.3, and in my mind, I wasn’t going to try and beat 10.3,” Solomon said. “I was just trying to make the best run I could, and the good Lord said the day ( July 31) was the day and I’m just thankful to be a part of it.” Thibodeaux also was thrilled about his final result. “I just knew I needed to be calm and do my job.” Thibodeaux said. “We do this all year long in the practice pen and everything. This was the third time I’ve made the short round here and it was not anything different than before. I knew this time I had to keep it simple, and this was by far the biggest win of my rodeo career.” Solomon slipped inside the top 10 in the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings with his $11,403 in earnings in Cheyenne. He’s aiming for his ninth appearance at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. “My supporters and my family, I’m finally blessed enough to have good horses,” Solomon said. “The start of my career I didn’t have that but the circle of people around me never let me quit and the last couple of years I’m finally getting to focus on (tie-down) roping and not worry about my horses. “My family and I were never projected to win this high on this big of stage. I’m just grateful to be roping calves and for me it is just one calf at a time, no matter how early or how late (in the season). I try not to get too high and get too low and this win puts me in a good spot.” Thibodeaux earned $11,000 in Cheyenne and that pushed his season total to a career-best $29,039. “I love this rodeo and I love roping fresh calves,” Thibodeaux said. “We have a lot more rodeos left on my count, and we are going to go as hard as we can.”
