I’m jacked about it.” Meged stays hot, takes tie-down roping title Rookie Haven Meged clocked a 7.4-second run in the final round to claim the RAMNCFR title. “This is just crazy,” Meged said. “That was my goal to come here and win it, and I achieved that goal, which was really sweet.” Meged placed third in the first round (7.8 seconds), fifth in round two (8.5 seconds), second in the two-head average (16.3 seconds) and semifinals (10.5 seconds), and was tops in the four-man finals. “In the finals, I got a really good start and got her roped and got my slack to the outside,” said Meged, 21, a junior at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. “She went down, and I didn’t know if I was going to tie her fast enough, but she came up in my arms, and I put two wraps and a hooey on her.”

Hooper takes title with record ride Veteran bareback rider Tilden Hooper’s inaugural trip to the RAMNCFR is one he will not soon forget. The Carthage, Texas, cowboy had a 92-point ride on Hi Lo Pro Rodeo’s Redzilla to win the four- man round at the Silver Spurs Arena. “That was one of my most fun bareback rides of my career,” said Hooper, 31, who joined the PRCA in 2006. “There’s nothing better than breaking a record and having all your buddies cheering for you behind the chutes.” Hooper’s score broke the RAMNCFR bareback riding record of 91 points set by Cimmaron Gerke on Kesler Rodeo’s Smiling Cat in 2004 in Pocatello, Idaho. Hooper departed the RAMNCFR after earning $19,669 – $7,493 for winning the final round.

Pearson nets first RAM NCFR win

Tyler Pearson already had a gold buckle. In March, he added a RAMNCFR buckle to go with it. The 2017 Steer Wrestling World Champion clocked a time of 3.9 seconds in the finals in Kissimmee to win his first RAM NCFR title. “They were 3.8 on that steer earlier in the week, so I knew there was a good chance (to do well),” said Pearson, who was making his debut at the RAMNCFR in Florida. “I just had to hit the barrier and go do my job.” Pearson, of Louisville, Miss., had been to the RAMNCFR when it was
