Mowry nabs barrel racing world title BY PRCA STAFF T he race for a gold buckle in the barrel racing brought the fans inside the Thomas & Mack Center to their feet every night, Round 10 was no different at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Teton With a strong blend of talent and consistency, Domer won her first Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping presented by Tito’s Handmade Vodka world title Dec. 4 at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center. This was Domer’s 10th world championship but the other nine came in the WPRA (2017-19 breakaway roping; 2012, 2017, 2020-21 all-around; 2012, 2018 tie-down roping). “Absolutely,” said Domer when asked if this was the best of her world titles. “That’s because it was won in PRORODEO, and it was all year long. I worked hard for the other ones as well, but this one is just different.”

Ridge. Coming into the night, Kassie Mowry and Hailey Kinsel were separated by one spot in the NFR Average and less than $15,000 in the world standings. It all came down to Round 10 with a WPRA World Championship on the line. At the end of 14 runs it was the Dublin, Texas, cowgirl Kassie Mowry standing on top as the world champion. Mowry clinched her first gold buckle with a 13.59-second run. It left the five-time NFR qualifier at a loss for words. “I knew it was going to come down to tonight and who was faster between Hailey (Kinsel) and I,” said Mowry. “Being first out, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I just had to make the same type of run I’d been making all week. Don’t try to play it safe. Finish this week strong and that’s what we did.” Mowry finished atop the world standings with $457,809, topping runner-up Hailey Kinsel, who finished the 2024 season with $430,353. KELSIE DOMER WINS BREAKAWAY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP An opportunity to be a world champion was there for the taking and Kelsie Domer seized the moment.

Domer finished the season with $168,758 to claim the world crown. She edged Martha Angelone for top honors. Angelone, the 2022 National Finals Breakaway Roping world champ, earned $165,505 for the season. Domer powered her way to glory by snaring the average title with a 22.0-second time on nine head. That average win was worth $16,914, which was enough to overtake Angelone, who finished fourth in the average and earned $7,978. Domer had a chance to go 10-for-10, but had a no time in Round 10, which left her wondering if she won the world or the average for that matter. “I was nervous (waiting for the final results),” Domer said. “Haven (Meged) actually came up to me first and said, ‘Congrats world champ.’ I kind of looked and he said I know it for a fact and wanted to accept it, but I wanted to see my name up there first and hear them announce it. I thought since I didn’t get that one roped, I didn’t think I won the world, and I honestly didn’t
