BY PRCA STAFF J osh Frost entered the PRCA Xtreme Bulls Finale in Pendleton, Ore., with a fairly comfortable lead in the tour standings and a slim advantage in the PRCA | RAM Bull Riding World Standings. Frost just needed to fend off Clayton Sellars to claim his first Xtreme Bulls Tour title. The Randlett, Utah, cowboy did what he needed to do to earn the championship, finishing with $95,385 to take the top spot by almost $10,000. “Winning this Xtreme Bulls Tour title means a lot,” said Frost, 29. “I think I’ve been second or third two years in a row before this. It’s always a goal when you start out the year to be the Xtreme Bulls champion. These events are the best of the best and it means a whole lot to be here standing in the winner’s circle.” Sellars finished second in the Xtreme Bulls Tour Standings with $85,795 and Jace Trosclair took third with $61,093. Success on the Xtreme Bulls Tour
in turn usually means a strong finish at the end of the season. Five out of the last seven years the Tour champion went on to the become the PRCA World Champion Bull Rider in December. Frost hopes that trend continues at the Thomas & Mack Center. The last three seasons, the Utah bull rider has finished as Reserve World Champion. He will have to overcome an addition hurdle in Las Vegas in 2024 after he suffered an injury during the final month of the season at the Xtreme Bulls Finale. Frost tore his rotator cuff and labrum in his left shoulder during the first night of competition and turned out of the competition for the third and fourth rounds. As a result, he took some time off to recover in September to get in the best shape possible for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Teton Ridge, Dec. 5-14. The decision to rest paid off as Frost won his first PRCA Bull Riding World Championship and second NFR average title.
