Young Guns Resistol Rookies of the Year

BY ALEX DODD I t was another year to remember for Resistol Rookies as six cowboys made their debut at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Teton Ridge in 2024. Here are the 2024 Resistol Rookies of the Year. “It’s pretty cool to get both of those under my belt. Like everyone says you only have one shot to win Rookie of the Year title, so to win two of those buckles and two of those saddles is pretty awesome. I think it’s just going to drive me to get on more broncs next year, honestly.” ALL-AROUND AND BULL RIDER C ooper James

“When you begin the year and buy your rookie card, it’s obviously one of your biggest goals. There’s a lot of good competition out there, and for everything to come together for a good season is pretty awesome. You can’t ask for more than that. I’m blessed and grateful.”

“I dreamed of it since I was a little boy. In junior high and high school, I won the rookie (award), and in college, I won rookie there. To win it in the PRCA is a great feeling, and this is what I want to do forever. I’m very blessed and thankful that it happened like that and that it was on God’s path.”

“Man, it was a good year, and it was a tough race. A good buddy of mine (Cole Walker) and I battled it out pretty well all year long…It helps to go out there and have a full year underneath you.”

“When I started, it was a goal. And I’m a pretty confident person, so I knew it was possible. I put the work in and worked all of my life for this year. It was a goal, I expected to do it and I’m glad I did it.”

“I had a feeling that I was going to win it towards the end of the year, but I’m still glad I won it…Rodeoing all year was a big learning curve for me, trying to figure out what I was doing wrong and how to fix it.”

“It adds onto everything and how cool this year was for me. Coming into my rookie year, I didn’t rodeo a whole lot the year before, so everything was pretty new to me. This has been a lifelong goal.”

“It’s pretty darn cool. It’s been a goal of mine for a few years, and even since I was little. My great uncle and grandpa and roped here. And I grew up around it. It was pretty special.”
