In her last out, Dawson Hay tied the Round 9 record with a winning ride of 92 points on Killer Bee. “I’m not sure it’s even sunk in,” Hay said. “It’s such an incredible feeling. Going through that ride, I’m not sure I’ve ever been on a horse that feels quite like that. That’s a ride that’s going to stick with me forever. It’s a special moment and the kind of thing we’ve always dreamed of since we were little.” For the performance, Killer Bee was chosen top saddle bronc horse of Round 9. In Round 4 of the 2022 NFR, Killer Bee carried Chase Brooks to an 88-point ride and was selected saddle bronc horse of the night. At the 2020Wrangler NFR, Killer Bee was chosen the top bareback horse. She was the 2019 PRCA Bareback Horse of the Year and voted top bareback horse of Round 3 of the 2019 NFR after bucking off Austin Foss. Killer Bee was also the top bareback horse of the 2018 NFR and top saddle bronc horse of the 2013 and 2014 NFRs. “That’s the best horse we have ever had,” Bennie said. “We started her off in bareback riding and a lot of the bareback riders didn’t like her because she bucked them off. Then we went to bronc riding, and she has been back and

Beutler & Son Rodeo accomplished the feat with bareback horse MasterHand Milling Ghost Town, saddle bronc horse BDM’s Mud’s Killer Bee and bull MasterHand Milling Smoke Stack. “We were pretty lucky, I guess,” said Bennie Beutler, who heads up the outfit based in Elk City, Okla. “We raised both horses and the bull, that’s what made this more special. We raised them all. We didn’t buy them.” Rhett Beutler, Bennie’s son, also was thrilled with the accolades. “This truly means a lot,” he said. MasterHand Milling Ghost Town was making his first appearance at the Wrangler NFR. In Round 3, TimO’Connell placed sixth with an 82.5-point ride. In Round 8, MasterHand Milling Ghost Town bucked off Steiner. Ghost Town was chosen the horse of the night in Round 3 and Round 8. Ghost Town, 6, weighs 1,150 pounds and is 16 hands “She has been special,” Bennie said. “They wanted us to nominate her for the NFR in 2021 and Rhett and I thought she ought to grow up and she did. It started off good and last January when Rocker Steiner won Odessa on her with an (86.5-point ride). She grew quite a bit this summer as well. She probably gained another 150 pounds and filled out more. We eased her along and the
