(tie) Duane Kesler’s Alberta Prime Devil’s Advocate & Powder River Rodeo’s Cool Whip QUALIFYING STATUS To be eligible for the 2022 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo top stock award, all bareback horses, saddle bronc horses and bulls had to perform twice during the Finals, Dec. 1-10. The top three animals in each event were determined on total animal judges’ scores on two outs. forth. She’s going to be 18 in May, and she doesn’t have anything left to prove. “We bottle raised her and she never did get really gentle. You didn’t pet her. She liked to buck.” Killer Bee, 17, weighs 1,350 pounds and is 16.3 hands. Smoke Stack’s success at the recent NFR comes as no surprise. In 2022, Smoke Stack was “PendletonWhisky’s Let ‘er Buck Bucking Stock of the Year” for bulls. At the NFR in Round 5, he bucked off Trevor Kastner and then he tossed Lukasey Morris in Round 10. For both of those rounds Smoke Stack was selected top bull of the night. “This feels good,” Rhett said. “When I got into this business, I wanted to raise a bull of year fromDay 1 at the ranch. I started fulltime in the business in 2000 and it took me this long to get it done. It’s great to raise a bull that guys like and it bucks hard every time, and they are hard to come by.” Smoke Stack is 6 and he weighs 1,750 pounds. “This was his third time at the NFR, and he was runner-up for the NFR in 2022 and this year he threw two guys off and won it,” Rhett said. “I have kind of got him gentle enough where he has his own pen at the house and you kind of rub on him and he will let you scratch his back and scratch his ears. But when we start loading the truck to go to events and he’s standing there and for some reason he’s not going he will go to bellowing and running and jumping and kicking and put his head up against the gate to try and open the gate while I’m loading the other bulls because I always load him last by himself. “Then, when I finally open the gate, he’s like a little kid. He runs down the alley and runs up there and then looks at you like shut the gate I’m ready.”
