FORT WORTH, TEXAS

Steiner wows in run aboard Yippee Kibitz After winning the Calgary Stampede in July with a 91.5-point on Calgary’s Stampede’s Yippee Kibitz, Steiner doubled his pleasure at the Fort Worth (Texas) Stock Show & Rodeo on Feb. 4. Steiner, 19, had a 90-point ride on Yippee Kibitz in the finals to claim his inaugural title at the storied rodeo at Dickies Arena. “All that is going through my mind is I’m so glad I drew that horse,” Steiner said. “I won $50,000 on that horse in Calgary and I just won $20,000 here and it seems like every time I draw that horse I win a big check. I would take drawing that horse every time.” Steiner left Fort Worth after earning $27,080 – $20,000 which came from his eight-second performance in the finals. The big winter win pushed Steiner to the top of the Feb. 15 PRCA | RAMWorld Standings with $33,237. Steiner also won his semifinal round with a 90-point ride on Calgary Stampede’s Twin Cherry. “The other day (Feb. 2) when I drew Twin Cherry, I was so nervous and I knew that horse could buck me off,” Steiner said. “I knew that horse could buck a lot of guys off. It felt like we were jumping five feet in the air and Mike Tyson was hitting me in the back of the head and my arm was tied to a freight train going downhill. Luckily, I had my binds tight tonight and kept chin down and had some fun. “As soon as my draw came out on Yippee Kibitz, I knew she was going to be good enough to give me a big score and a big check. Numbers went out the door when I drew her. “I was just ready to have some fun and get out there in the bright lights and get the crowd going. I was glad I got the opportunity to do it.” This past December, Steiner made his Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Teton Ridge debut in Las Vegas, and it was quite the roller-coaster ride. Steiner finished 10th in the world standings with $185,367. He earned $51,039 at the NFR, thanks to placing in three rounds, including winning Round 6 with an 88.5-point ride onWayne Vold Rodeo’s True Grit. “Last year I came to this rodeo (in Fort Worth) and got to ride one time, but I didn’t get a shot at the title,” Steiner said. “I didn’t go to San Antonio. I was really looking forward to get to compete at these (winter rodeos) in the bright lights.” Familiarity definitely helped Rocker Steiner’s cause and he did the rest.
