DENVER
BY MATT NABER Jorgensen earns a 4.0 in final round Steer wrestler
Stetson Jorgensen cashed in for nearly $10,000 in Denver. The Idaho cowboy stopped the clock in 4.0 seconds in the final round to take home $9,574 from Denver. “It’s comforting, and you don’t have to worry about scraping dollar bills off the ground,” Jorgensen laughed. Fresh off his first trip to the Wrangler NFR and finishing third in the 2019 PRCA | RAMWorld Standings, Jorgensen placed second in Round 2 and second in Progressive Round 3 with 3.8-second and 4.4-second runs, respectively, to qualify for the final round in Denver. “Every guy wants to win these big ones,” Jorgensen said. “It definitely starts the year right.” With Dirk Tavenner
as his hazer and Mable as his mount, the 26-year-old cowboy stopped the clock in 4.0 seconds to win the final round and the title. “I never did well at Denver until this year, so I can’t complain,” Jorgensen said. Competition was stiff in the finals, with first place and eighth place

separated by one second. Jorgensen edged Jesse Brown by one-tenth of a second. “I’m feeling great and my confidence is sky-rocket high, and confidence is everything,” Jorgensen said before driving overnight to Fort Worth, Texas. Clements focuses on future Narrowly missing the 2019Wrangler NFR has bareback rider Mason Clements focused on the future as he works to prevent his ProRodeo past from repeating itself. His first step was a large stride by winning Denver with an 89.5-point ride onThe Cervi Brothers’ Gander Goose in the final round. “Being 16th at the end of the season has lit a lot of fire in me for the beginning of the season,” Clements said. “It rolled into the 2020 season and makes me hungry and keeps me disciplined to keep working out at home and riding my spur board and horses to make it all count there so that it’s all muscle memory when I get here.” His muscle memory held strong in Denver, as the 27-year-old, Utah cowboy fought his way through the tournament format with three rides in the 80s before winning the final round. “Financially and for confidence, it’s just a big boost,” Clements said. “But at the same time, one win doesn’t justify 70 rodeos a year to make the NFR. I’m happy with the win and will celebrate it, but it’s only January and the (regular) season ends in October.” Before his Denver win, Clements was sitting at 26th in the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings with $2,503. After earning $7,367 in Denver, with $5,427 stemming from the final round, Clements leaped to sixth.
