BY TRACY RENCK F or NFL players, the transition to retirement can be difficult. That wasn’t the case for 6-foot-5, 275-pound Bear Pascoe. After playing 85 games from 2009-16 as a tight end for the Super Bowl XLVI champion New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and New England Patriots, the California native was set on another career option – rodeo. “I didn’t really grow up around rodeo, but I grew up in the Western lifestyle,” said Pascoe, who lives in Morro Bay, Calif. “My dad (Sean) was a foreman on a big cattle ranch in the Central Valley, and I grew up cowboying and living the ranch-kid lifestyle. I had the mindset that I was going to play football for as long as I could and then dive right into rodeo.” Pascoe’s move from football to steer wrestling in the PRCA caught the attention of the media, including TV producer Luke Arreguin.
