Kent claimed his eighth circuit finals title finishing with 211 points on three head. He not only took home the average win but won all three rounds of the rodeo to take home an event-best $13,162 on the weekend. “I’ve always had pretty good luck at this rodeo, it’s home to me, I was born and raised in Pennsylvania,” said Kent, 35. “All the rodeos are close. I don’t have to travel that far to go to them, so that makes a big difference because I have two little babies.” He was quick to credit the job the First Frontier Circuit does as they aim to grow the sport in the Northeastern portion of the United States. “The First Frontier has a very nice circuit finals and the board of directors has done a lot to make it a great finals for all of us cowboys,” Kent said. “I encourage anyone if they can make 15 rodeos and qualify for the finals it’s more than worth it to compete on a stage like this.” His eighth circuit championship this season breaks Glen Yeo record for the most bareback riding First Frontier Circuit Finals ever won. He said it’s a record he was aware of, but never something he’s focused on throughout his career. “I never set out to break that goal, I just haven’t retired yet and so history just kind of wrote itself for me to do that,” Kent said. As Kent heads into his 10th season of ProRodeo he doesn’t see his career slowing down anytime soon. “I guess I’ll keep doing it until I don’t enjoy it anymore to be honest with you,” Kent said. “I’m still having fun right now. I have a buddy namedWill States, him and I have been egging each other on to compete this summer and that’ll only make a guy want it just that much more.” He’s competed in the RAMNational Circuit Finals seven times, but he’ll get to make his NFR Open powered by RAM debut this summer. The event will be held in conjunction with the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo in Colorado Springs, Colo., July 13-16. “I’ve never rodeoed in Colorado, so I’m really looking forward to checking out the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo this summer,” Kent said. “Where there is more competition, I feel like I have nothing to lose. So, I can let it all hang out, which in bareback riding that’s how it should be on every single ride in my opinion.”
