A funeral service was held Jan. 13 at the Wakon Iron Hall in Pawhuska Indian Camp. In his honor, memorial contributions can be made to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund. Tucker John Depew, a bareback rider and PRCA permit holder, of Blackduck, Minn., passed away Jan. 10 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate 35 near Bethany, Mo. He was 18. Depew was headed to his first PRCA event – the CINCHWorld’s Toughest Rodeo in Des Moines, Iowa. Depew attended college at Missouri Valley in Marshall, Mo. Depew was born March 13, 2001, in Bemidji, Minn., to Tammi and Troy Depew. He lived in Blackduck for 16 years, then briefly in Pingree, N.D., and then inWaddell, Ariz., where he attended and graduated from Verrado High School in 2019. He was attending Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo., on a rodeo scholarship studying agri-business at the time of his death. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Lutheran in Blackduck where his firm faith in Jesus began. Tucker was an artist, whether it was leather, pencil or words. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, riding horses, cattle sorting, woodworking, farming and gardening. Depew was preceded in death by his aunt, Tracy Depew Lane; his grandfathers Doug Depew and Rex Mayotte; and great- grandparents, Don and Audrey Krueger. Tucker is survived by his father, Troy; mother, Tammi (Travis) Lindberg; brothers Tanner Depew, Trapper Depew, Peter and James Lindberg; and step-siblings Mollie, Joe and Ashley Lindberg; grandparents, Judy Mayotte; Roger and Debbie Krueger; David and Anna Lindberg; great-grandparents, Mary and Jerry Noon; aunts and uncles, Lisa (Jon) Holliday, Brian (Erin) Krueger, Tyler (Tia) Depew; cousins Sam, Joanna, Eliza, Bennett and Evie Krueger, Elliot Depew. To honor Depew, all memorial proceeds will be designated for the Missouri Valley College Rodeo Team to help with travel costs and entry fees for cowboys and cowgirls living out Tucker’s rodeo dream. cowboys and Indians. He went to grade school at the Indian Camp school and was proud to be a Warrior. As a youngster he loved to help his father and his uncles Charlie and Barton work cattle, break colts or with anything else ranch related. He fell in love with roping and the cowboy way of life. He roped competitively in steer roping and team roping until he could no longer get on a horse at the age of 70. Carter graduated from Pawhuska High School in 1960. Carter and his friend, John Miller, went to Modesto, Calif., to work on the ranch of Miller’s uncle, Ben Johnson, and to attend school at Modesto Junior College to college rodeo. Carter received an associate degree fromModesto Junior College. He finished his college education at Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1965 with a degree in Animal Husbandry. Carter married his high school sweetheart, Frankie Mae Keigley, in 1963, a union that lasted 34 years and produced three children, Trini, GR Jr. and Trona. After college, Carter worked in the pipeline business. He started Carter Construction in 1970 and continued the business until he passed. He specialized in steel construction (shops, barns and pipe fencing). Carter continued to rodeo in the 1970s and 1980s in the PRCA and later in the Senior Steer Ropers Association. He ran a few cows, raised a few horses and started training a few racehorses when his kids were old enough to help. Carter met Linda Partain, and they were married the last 20 years of his life. Linda has two children, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who were a part of his life. He and Linda moved to Nowata and lived on the Carter ranch to be closer to her family. George was a member of the Osage Tribe and served two terms on the Minerals Council in the 1990s. He was a member of many roping associations. He was also a member of
