Several PRCA performers on ‘Go-Big Show’

BY THE NUMBERS 1 The number of sets of twin brothers to qualify and rope together at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Team roping header Jake Cooper and heeler Jim Ross Cooper accomplished the feat in 2007. 20 The age of ProRodeo Hall of Famer Ty Murray when he won the all-around world championship in 1989, making him the youngest all-around winner in PRCA history. Jim Shoulders held the previous record when he won at 21 in 1949. Murray was 20 years, 2 months when he won. Stetson Wright was 20 years, 4 months when he won his first all- around crown in 2019. 41 The age of Freckles Brown when he won a bull riding gold buckle in 1962, making him the oldest cowboy to win a bull riding world championship. Brown was inducted into the inaugural ProRodeo Hall of Fame class in 1979.

Tomas Garcilazo, a four-time winner of the PRCA Specialty Act Award, displayed his talents on TV Jan. 14. Garcilazo, who won the award in 2007, 2013, 2018 and 2019 and is a mainstay at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, is competing on the “Go-Big Show” on TBS. Garcilazo defeated athlete Aaron Fotheringham on Jan. 14 to move on to the semifinals at a yet-to-be-determined date on TBS. Garcilazo is not the only PRCA athlete competing on the “Go-Big Show.” The specialty act of Rider Kiesner and Bethany Iles is also on, doing trick riding, trick roping, gun spinning and whip cracking. Fellow PRCA trick rider Ginger Duke and bullfighter Justin Josey are also on. Duke competed Jan. 21. When Kiesner-Iles and Josey will appear on TV is unknown. The “Go-Big Show” airs at 9 p.m. (ET) on Thursdays on TBS. The “Go-Big Show” is an extreme talent show with contestants ranging from horse trick riders to giant ramp jumpers to people performing incredible feats of strength to alligator and rattlesnake wrestlers, stunt archers and world record- holders. The series is a celebration of daring acts, as contestants battle head-to-head to win the finale’s ultimate $100,000 prize.

ProRodeo Hall of Fame reopens The ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy reopened to the public on Jan. 13. The ProRodeo Hall of Fame will have regular winter hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (MT) Wednesdays through Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The ProRodeo Hall of Fame will continue to practice public health prevention measures including the enforcement of social distancing requirements, regularly washing and sanitizing of hands, and the wearing of masks for all staff and guests. The museum will operate at 25% of the posted occupancy limit within their useable space, not to exceed 50 people, including staff, whichever is less. The gift shop will also be open with unique items and clearance items for sale.
