that day (to get on him) for a long time. It was awesome. He made a bunch of rounds, he bucks and he’s a very good bull. That’s a cool rodeo and the crowd was packed. It was a good place to be.” Tribble’s ride, which happened July 23, tied for the second-highest score of the season. It was the second 91-point score on Footloose, as Elliot Jacoby registered the same score on the bull Feb. 25 during the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Tribble won the 2018 San Antonio buckle, netting $34,754. Fast-forward to Spanish Fork, where Tribble won $7,360 toward his spot in the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings. He was sixth in the July 25 world standings with $76,768. That push in the standings also was boosted when Tribble split second place at the Ogden (Utah) Pioneer Days on July 24, earning $3,741. “That win at Spanish Fork and tying for second at Ogden helped a bunch because I didn’t do very well over the Fourth of July,” Tribble said. “This was a good chunk of money, and it will dang sure help in the standings and gives me a lot of confidence.” The heater Tribble is on isn’t surprising to his traveling partner, Denton Fugate. “That bull (Footloose) really bucked, and he rode him as good as you can ride one,” said Fugate, 23, who has known Tribble for a decade. “Bull riding comes easy to Garrett, and it has been great to see him do as well as he’s been doing. As a person, Garrett is a little quieter, but when you get to know him, he’s funny.” TRIBBLE INWRANGLER PRORODEOTOUR MIX The news keeps getting better for Tribble, as he collected 80 points in the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour standings with his effort in Spanish Fork. He is in the Top 20 in the Tour’s bull riding standings.

“That’s a big deal to get those points in the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour,” Tribble said. The Wrangler Tour consists of 22 of the PRCA’s biggest rodeos and culminates with the Justin Finale in Puyallup, Wash., Sept. 6-9. The top 24 competitors in the Tour standings in each event will earn a spot at the Justin Finale, as cowboys make a final push toward the all-important Top 15 in the world standings. “I would love to qualify for Puyallup, because any big rodeo like that late in the season is a game changer,” Tribble said. LEARNING FROM EXPERIENCE Missing the Wrangler NFR a year ago lit a fire under Tribble. He acknowledged that part of his problem in 2017 came with the process of entering rodeos – something he’s made a point to fix this season. “I’m just trying to stay on top of stuff a lot more,” he said. “We’re entered up pretty hard, and my goal is to get back to the NFR. It would mean a lot to ride there again.” In 2016, Tribble had a tough time in Las Vegas, covering just two of 10 bulls. He did tie with Shane Proctor and Cody Rostockyj for the Round 7 victory with his 85-point ride on Salt River Rodeo’s Big Jake. Tribble finished 12th in the Wrangler NFR average and earned $46,526. “I definitely want to get back there so I can redeemmyself,” Tribble said. “Bull riding is all I ever wanted to do since I was a little kid watching the movie ‘8 Seconds.’ I used to watch that movie every day and I loved it.” Fugate is confident that can happen for his buddy. “He’s going back to Vegas for sure,” Fugate said. “He rides too good not to be there.”
