Not only did Trevor Brazile win the tie-down roping competition at the Sheridan WYO Rodeo, July 14, but he was also all-around cowboy.

BY TRACY RENCK T he king of cowboys is alive and well. Trevor Brazile, a PRCA-record 23- time world champion, proved that at the SheridanWYO Rodeo. The Decatur, Texas, cowboy won in tie-down roping and split the win in steer roping with J. Tom Fisher. “That (Sheridan) has always been one of my favorites,” said Brazile, 41. “It has all three roping events in the performances. It makes for a busy night, but it is fun. I don’t get to do that a lot where I’m doing three events in a perf. It’s one of those rodeos I look forward to and the town embraces the rodeo. It has the rodeo feel when you get there, and I love it.” Brazile was victorious in tie-down roping with a rodeo-record, 16.6-second time in the two-head average, and he tied Fisher in steer roping with a 52.9-second time in the four-head average. He and heeler Patrick Smith also finished eighth in the team roping average. Brazile earned an all-around cowboy record $12,648, breaking the previous all-around Sheridan Trevor Brazile earns all-around cowboy record at Sheridan Record Statement record amount of $9,962, which he set in 2015. He also captured all-around cowboy honors in Sheridan in 1998, 2006-07, 2010-15 and 2018, and won steer roping titles in Sheridan in 1998, 2002, 2015 and 2018. Brazile holds the two-head average record in tie-down roping at 17.1 seconds, which he set in 2013 in Sheridan. “He (Brazile) works really hard,” said Smith, who won the team roping heeler world title in 2010 while paired with Brazile. “It takes a lot of work to compete in one event, much less three.
