Four days after winning the Rooftop Rodeo in Estes Park, Colo., Lummus won the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo in Colorado Springs, Colo. “I am glad that (PRCA CEO) George Taylor stepped up to the plate and is working to make rodeo better,” Lummus said of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo returning to the PRCA. “I really think he is out for the cowboys. To make this count and win $17,000 is a huge change. It changes the course of the summer and the course of the rest of the year.” Lummus made his Pikes Peak debut by winning the first performance with the fastest run of the rodeo at 3.7 seconds. “I had asked people who ran (the steer) before I did onWednesday, but nobody had hung it on him,” Lummus said.
