The NFR Open powered by RAM ushered in a welcomed reunion for team ropers Nelson Wyatt/Tyler Worley. The duo roped together for a handful of years before finding new partners prior to the 2023 ProRodeo season. After winning the RAM Texas Circuit Finals Rodeo together last October they punched their ticket to the championship circuit event. The rejoining of forces couldn’t have gone much better. Wyatt/Worley placed in all four rounds of competition on their way to winning the national championship with a 4.4-second run in the final four showdown round. “God lined this whole thing up for us to come in here and have the success that we did,” said Wyatt, 30. “I couldn’t be happier with how things turned out roping here with Tyler.”
The duo was the last to rope in the Gold Buckle Round, so they knew exactly how fast they had to be to come out on top. The two teams before them laid down a pair of 4.9-second runs. At that point it came down to trusting their preparation and letting the chips fall where they may after that. “They made a great run before us and the conditions were pretty tough with the mud,” said Worley, a two-time Wrangler NFR qualifier. “So, at that point we had to leave it up to God and go out there and make the best possible run we can.” It all worked out for the Texas team. “It was fun, you know we didn’t have a good year last year,” Worley said. “We went home and went to circuit rodeos and kind of salvaged it. We were blessed enough to do good at the circuit finals and just super happy it worked out here.”
