Creek Young wins first Reno title Creek Young checked a box off

his bucket list last season by qualifying for his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The 21-year-old can add another tally at the conclusion of this year’s Reno (Nev.) Rodeo. Young claimed the Silver Spurs for the first time in his career, taking home the average title with 172.5 points on two head. It’s a win he won’t forget anytime soon. “This is my third time here, but my first time doing any good,” said Young. “It feels great, it’s definitely my biggest rodeo win up to date, so it feels awesome.” He secured the championship with an 88-point ride on Bridwell Pro Rodeos’ Louisiana Lightning in the finals. It was a bull he’s never ridden before but that didn’t change his confidence level. “No, I really wasn’t that familiar with him, but I saw Lukasey (Morris) won the Xtreme Bulls in Redding, Calif. on him and he was just awesome that night,” he said. “But I knew he would be a bull that fit me well. So, I was pretty confident going into it. I knew that if I got my job done, I would probably be first or second. But I ended up winning it.” It hasn’t been an easy trek inside

He has battled different injuries at nearly every turn in 2022. “I dislocated my free arm elbow, and I was out for a little while for that,” Young said. “Then I came back toward the end of April and got on probably 15 bulls in ProRodeo again then broke my left leg at Clovis (Calif.) in April. So, I took

seven weeks off and came to the Reno Xtreme Bulls for my first one back.” Now, back healthy he’s turning his focus to having a strong summer run. “I knew I had to step it up coming in here and we got it done,” he said. “Now, we have a busy Cowboy Christmas and the rest of the summer to look forward to.”
