MANDAN RODEO DAYS MANDAN, S.D. Hooper keeps cruising at top

Bareback rider Tilden Hooper added to his lead at the top of the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings. Hooper won Mandan Rodeo Days with a 90-point ride on Macza Pro Rodeo’s Billy Jean, taking home $5,570. Hooper earned $11,576 over the Fourth of July stretch. He leads the standings with $109,211, about $8,000 in front of three-time World Champion TimO’Connell. The 33-year-old who lives in Fort Worth, Texas, has led the world standings since winning The American in March. He’s searching for his first gold buckle.

WESTERN STAMPEDE WEST JORDAN, UTAH

Saddle bronc rider Shorty Garrett garnered $5,302 after riding the Cervi Brothers’ Jimmy Lee’s 2 Cookies for 87.5 points and the win at the Western Stampede. Garrett has been battling to stay in the Top 15 of the world standings, and the Fourth of July victory helped move him up to 12th with $34,170. The 28-year-old from South Dakota also earned $1,111 at the Cody (Wyo.) Stampede over the Fourth run. Garrett made the NFR for the first time last season, finishing in 10th place in the world standings. Garrett scores $5,000 at Western Stampede
