BRIEFS San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo makes leadership shuffle The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is creating a new executive role for its educational foundation, shuffling its leadership. Keith Martin, the rodeo’s CEO and executive director, will become the first CEO and executive director of the foundation. Rodeo president Cody Davenport will replace Martin. “Cody will do an outstanding job,” Martin said in a press release announcing the changes. “I’m looking forward to focusing on raising funds to support the mission even further in my new role.” Rusty Collier, vice president to the executive committee and a volunteer for more than 30 years, will take over as rodeo president. Red Bluff (Calif.) Round-Up has special day for ill children Twelve children, all fighting cancer and other serious illnesses, and their parents and siblings came to the Red Bluff (Calif.) Round-Up for a day to remember. They enjoyed a cookout and got to watch the rodeo. They are part of the Wings of Angels group, a nonprofit organization based in Redding, Calif., that provides financial help for the families as their kids go through cancer treatment. Wings of Angels was founded by Dan and Donna Araiza in 2002. Since, it has given more than $1.2 million to more than 200 families in the form of fuel and grocery cards, by paying rent and utility bills, and repairing cars. The Araizas realized the need for a program like this after their 9-year-old daughter died from cancer in 2001. This was the second year the Round-Up donated tickets to the Wings of Angels kids and their families. Proceeds from a silent auction held during the Round-Up’s volunteer banquet on April 14 were donated toward the organization. The event raised more than $2,250. Greeley (Colo.) Stampede recognizes outstanding citizens Each year since 1928, the Greeley (Colo.) Stampede has recognized outstanding citizens for their com- munity and regional contributions to northern Colorado. The Stampede recently announced Rob and Anita Reeve as the Grand Marshals for the 97th Annual Greeley Stampede. The 2018 Greeley Stampede is June 22 through July 4. For Rob and Anita Reeve, food is how they bring people together and give back to their community. Rob has been to countless charity events or fundraisers in the past 20 years. He has a contagious, positive demeanor at his custom-made, steam engine-themed barbecue. Each year he donates his time and energy to more than 30 charity events, barbecuing up to 11,000 pounds of meat to help each event reach its goals. Rob served on the Greeley Stampede Committee from 2000-04 – as the grounds chairman from 2000-02 and as rodeo chairman from 2003-04. Rob continues to support the Greeley Stampede with several barbecues for the volunteers of the event.
