Will Lowe riding high after victory Joe Duty photo Winning Round 3 of Bracket 5 of the Super Series Finish with an 86.5-point ride on Pickett Pro Rodeo’s Natural Hell took bareback rider Will Lowe to the lead in his 19th year of ProRodeo competition.

Going from no ProRodeo competitions to three rounds of bareback riding against some of the sport’s best bareback horses and top competitors didn’t faze Will Lowe, but the empty stadium brought a different vibe to the Super Series Finish competition in Fort Worth. “The electricity in the air makes it fun, but we are riding bucking horses, so if your motor isn’t running, well, it shouldn’t take a crowd to get your motor running,” Lowe laughed. The televised competition was one of the first opportunities to win money toward the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings since the COVID-19 pandemic put ProRodeo on pause in mid-March. Lowe’s Fort Worth win of $6,375 nearly doubled his season total, pushing him to 26th in the world standings with $13,249. The Texas cowboy missed out on what would have been his 16thWrangler NFR (2002-15, 2018)

when he finished 23rd in the world standings last season. “The guys here are at the top of the world, and all of them have the ability to beat you,” said Lowe, 37. “There are so many variables in our sport, you never know what will happen, so just nod your head and try.” Lowe’s laidback approach resulted in winning Round 1 of Bracket 5 with an 84-point ride on Korkow Rodeo’s Redemption. He tied for fourth in Round 2 with a 79-point ride and returned for a Round 3 win with 86.5 points on Pickett Pro Rodeo’s Natural Hell. “You just have to stay focused, because if you’re hurting it’ll get worse with each one,” Lowe said. “If you try your hardest you don’t need to worry about the score because you fought your best fight.” –Matt Naber
