Blackmore and Seth Hall earned $5,170 each there. The two aren’t roping together this season, but their chemistry led to last season’s year-end and average titles, and they’re planning to rope together at the RAMNCFR if it happens. Hall is ready for it. “It’d be awesome to go back out to Florida,” Hall said. “I’d drive across the country to rope with him because he dang-sure gives you a chance to win.”

back up and you can enjoy it.” If the RAMNCFR is rescheduled, the Blackmores already have an itinerary for their delayed honeymoon. “We’re looking forward to them hopefully rescheduling it and getting to go out there and spending time relaxing and hang out,” Cheyenne said. “For Christmas, Trey’s parents got us tickets to Universal Studios and Disney World, and we were going to go see Gatorland, maybe cruise over to the beach. We were going to stay back there for a week, watch him at the rodeo, and spend time hanging out and doing fun stuff like that.”

GOAL-ORIENTED

One of Blackmore’s goals last season (and this) was to be the Turquoise Circuit year-end champ. He did that when he and Hall wrapped up that title with the average win at the RAMTCFR. “Unbelievable, it was a pretty neat experience,” Blackmore said. “It was something we set out to do that year, and it came together and worked out great.” Part of that success came from their planning. “(At the) circuit finals we had a game plan,” Hall said. “Going in there, we were either winning it or winning second. We wanted to finish out the year as circuit champions. We went to the finals and roped through all the steers. We were

ready when we got to the performances, made three really nice runs and won the average, the year end and won a pile of money going into the winter, which helped us.” For Blackmore, it was encouraging to accomplish the goals he set and boosted his confidence as a roper. “Honestly, it gave me a lot of confidence,” he said. “It made me feel like I was good enough to go and be out there.” HOME ON THE RANCH Blackmore’s new bride can see her husband is ready to get back on the rodeo trail. “He’s definitely craving

it,” Cheyenne said. “I was glad they had Cave Creek (Rodeo Days, May 22-24) and he got to go to it. But I think it’s hard on all the cowboys because they are used to going to more than one in a weekend and they don’t have anywhere else to go. And (if ) they didn’t do any good, they’re just sitting home on the couch sad about not having another one to go to.” Not having many to go to is also a struggle for another reason for Blackmore, who works at the family’s 100-section ranch at home when he’s not rodeoing. “Honestly, it’s been terrible being home working all the time,” he laughed. “Here in Arizona it gets dang-sure hot. The nice thing has been in the summer the last three, four years I’ve been going to rodeos on the weekend. Now, there are no rodeos, I’m just working through the weekend.” Blackmore understands the situation. He’d much rather be rodeoing, but he understands the safety aspect. “We’re dang sure still looking forward to it,” he said. “Every day it got closer, we got a little more excited. We’d be sitting there thinking we can do this while we’re out there or we can go do this. When they postponed it, it was dang sure a bummer, but at the same time if they went ahead and had it, we wouldn’t have gotten to do anything anyway. So might as well wait until everything is opened
