TIME CAPSULE

C owboy Christmas is a long- standing tradition in ProRodeo. While the events have changed to include team roping and bar- rel racing, the mad dash for cash during the week of July 4 remains the same. While the 50-year-old payouts of $12,000 at St. Paul and Greeley may seem small by today’s standards, those totals equate to about $89,000 in 2018 dollars, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Those two rodeos have far exceeded the rate of inflation as St. Paul paid out $352,273 last year and Greeley paid $322,162.
